Monroe County Museum

The Monroe County Historical Society began collecting local historical items in 1938, storing them in a historic homestead, the Sawyer House on East Front Street, before handing them to the Monroe County Historical Commission, which was founded in 1967. The commission bought this majestic building, originally the United States Post Office, in 1972, thanks to a significant gift. Yankee Air Museum
